what is the best way to make the language files translatable?

Hi all,

the option descriptions and the name of the textstyles from the language
files are currently not translated. What is the best way to do this?

We could move their definition to a .c file (it's a relatively low
number of strings), or make the xml file itself translatable. Perhaps
there are other options to get them in the po file?? Any opinions?
